Jack, Philip, Dinah, Lucy-Ann, and Kiki go on holiday to a remote cottage near a partially ruined, isolated castle on Castle Hill. The locals are tight-lipped and are wary of the old fortress. When Jack spots a great auk/eagle flying out of the castle and wants to photograph the nesting birds, the children notice mysterious flashing lights coming from a high tower at night.
